Dr. Richardson was a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce, Florida, before joining the Honors College, where she has taught since the Fall of 2002. She is currently a Research Associate in the Department of Paleobiology, National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. Her research interests include the phylogeny of Foraminifera, the evolutionary significance of photosymbiosis in Soritacean foraminiferans, and the ecology of foraminiferans in seagrass and mangrove habitats. She has ongoing field projects in the Indian River Lagoon and Florida Keys, as well as in Belize, Central America.
